Full course description

Youth on the Move is a professional development program for secondary physical education teachers, designed to help these teachers learn how to implement an Activist Approach to teaching (Oliver & Kirk, 2015) in their classrooms. This student-centered program aims to foster a positive relationship with physical activity. With a focus on student-centered pedagogy, attention to how students feel about their bodies, inquiry-based learning, and listening and responding to youth, teachers and students can work collaboratively to create physical education curricula. This course will help teachers gather key information, broaden students' perspectives to new activity content through a variety of teaching styles, and promote physical activity for a lifetime in connection with students' interests and learning needs.
